Ron's Artistic Statement
Art is totally subjective, and as such belongs to the eyes of the viewer! Like it - Hate it - or, totally Indifferent About it - these are NOT the decisions of the artist, but those of the viewers gazing at our work.
There are established norms and expectations in the "Art World". In my opinion, many times they count for very little in the final analysis. I've heard people, including art critics and collectors, criticize Jackson Pollock's art. However, his paintings sell for among the highest priced works offered by other collectors and museums, who love his work. I'm personally one of the ones who loves his work, starting with his "Full Fathom Five" from 1947,
My art style is one of Modified Pointillism. Pointillism was an art style developed by George Seurat and Paul Signac in 1886, branching off from the Impressionist movement of the time. Pointillism places small dots, or very short brush strokes (think Van Gogh's self portrait), of pure color in close proximity to each other of complementary colors on a canvas to create a larger image (red next to yellow at a distance gives the impression of orange to the eye).
Modified Pointillism also uses dots of color, or very short brush strokes, that blend the colors together to again create a larger image, similar in nature to an Impressionist style of art. The difference here from Pointillism, is the dots are blended and not totally separate from one another, creating a unique, modified version of the pure Pointillism technique. Some of my paintings have upwards of 50,000 individual dots, which absolutely makes me a crazy person!
I firmly feel each piece of ART deserves to stand on its own merits to the individual viewer. It is for this reason I create the works I do, in hopes that someone will like what I have created.
